Camp Read and Feed

Camp Read and Feed has been a success.  Thank you to all the parents who helped their students prepare.  A BIG thank you to parents who sent in camp mail.  Your kids were SO excited!

BATS

We did a great research and writing project on bats.  Students spent time working together to research bats.  We read books, watched video clips, and searched the internet.  Students put all of their research together to create great posters.  I was really proud of the students.  They worked very hard with their partners.

Snowball Fight

The month of May has a magic way of making it really hard to stay focused on school.  Mrs. Brown's class has been working SO hard each day.  They are earning prizes to reward them for their great work.  One of their best prizes...SNOWBALL FIGHT!!!

AR Reward

Statton and Axton both earned the opportunity to read a book to another class.  Statton read to Mrs. Stanger's AM kindergarten class.  Axton read Mrs. Stanger's PM kindergarten class.  Great job boys!

Chapter Book Club

Students were given the opportunity to join Mrs. Brown's Chapter Book Club.  They had a chance in March and another chance in April.  To join the club, they had to read a chapter book and complete a cool book report on their book.  I am so proud of the students who joined.

 March Chapter Book Club
Makenna and Gracee enjoyed apples with caramel sauce and an extra recess.

April Chapter Book Club
Gracee, Xavier, Connor, and Jack enjoyed pizza and an extra recess.

Fieldtrip to the Courthouse

After we wrapped up our citizenship unit, we were able to go on a fabulous fieldtrip to the Twin Falls County Courthouse.  Thank you so much to Julie Sturgill, Judge Bevan, and all of the very gracious county employees who helped our children with the opportunity to visit.  We had a great time.

We toured the old courthouse.  Such a neat building.

This is the old jail cell.  ONE jail cell.  It is on the top floor of the old courthouse.  Prisoners stayed there, while the warden and his family lived across the hall.

Students were able to spend some time in a courtroom with Judge Bevan.  Hopefully, they were able to learn some important things about citizenship and how the courts can help citizens.

2nd Grade Class President

The 2nd grade spent a lot of time in the 4th quarter studying citizenship and what it means to be a good citizen.  One of our stories in our reading unit was all about becoming a class president.  Each class held an election and nominated one candidate.  Each class candidate had to "campaign."  Xavier from Mrs. Brown's class was a perfect candidate.  He made great posters and gave a fantastic speech to the entire 2nd grade about why he would make the best class president.  He chose Jesse to be his running mate.  Although he did not win, Mrs. Brown could not have been more proud!!  Way to go Xavier and Jesse!

April Fools' Day

Perhaps your child told you about the rare LOOF LIRPA bird.  It was spotted near Perrine on April 1st.  It is attracted to carrots, along with the call "Loof Loof Ahh.  Loof Loof Wee."  Did your son or daughter find the bird?
