Talent Show

Mrs. Brown’s 2^nd grade class will be having a class talent show on Friday May 30^th.  Please help your child come up with something they could showcase for the class.  We have discussed it in class and students should have several ideas.  They are welcome to bring appropriate music or props that they may need.  This is just for our class, and will not be open to an audience.  Thanks for your help!

I like I. B. Perrine School. I am learning so much! I am getting smarter & smarter & smarter. I am taking many tests. I have at least 14 friends. At my old school there was only 1 floor. At I. B. Perrine there are 2 floors!We are doing many activities.One of the best parts of school is specials.At my old school there are only 3 specials. At Perrine there are 5 specials.

Chapter Book Club

We had five students who joined our "Chapter Book Club."  They each read a chapter book and created an interesting and creative book report to share with our class.  Well done guys!  Fun prizes await you.  Welcome to the club!

Faulkner Planetarium

Friday, May 16, our class walked to Faulkner Planetarium.

It was a long, and hot, walk.  The kids did a great job, however, they were pretty quiet once we got there.  I didn't think they could EVER be worn out!!  Haha!

They got their usual enthusiasm back once we went into the theater.  We saw the film "Sea Monsters."  It was very interesting.  It showed many different fossils of prehistoric creatures that lived in the sea.  The show had recreated what these creatures may have looked like and told a story that followed one in particular.

The kids all really seemed to enjoy this field trip.  I have been so lucky to have such a great class this year.  I have really enjoyed taking them out on these field trips to learn and explore.  They are great kids!

Hagerman Field Trip

Thursday, May 15, the second grade was able to take it's annual field trip to Hagerman.  

Students were able to visit the Hagerman National Fish Hatchery.  They toured the facility and were able to learn and see many new things.  They ended their tour with a trip to the sturgeon pond, where they were able to pet a sturgeon.  These fish were humongous and have been at the hatchery for over 20 years.  Sturgeons can live for up to 100 years!

Students traveled to the Hagerman Fossil Bed Dig Site where they were able to see some replicas of some of Idaho's most famous fossils.  They learned about some of the ancient animals.  It was very interesting.

They were even able to do a mock excavation for some fossils.

After a long day of learning and bus riding...

we finally made it to Thousand Springs Resort for some swimming!

We had a great day!!

AR Reward

Adolfo joined the growing list of students who get to read to a first grade class.  He earned enough rewards to read Pet the Cat: Rocking in My School Shoes, by Eric Litwin, to Mrs. Pereira's class.
