Reading to First Grade

Rewards

Our class does the Accelerated Reader program.  There are prizes that can be earned as the students read books and pass tests to earn AR points.  Two of our students earned 25 points and were able to read a book to a first grade class.

Gracee read The Three Billy Goats Fluff to Mrs. Reinke's room.

John read Interrupting Chicken to Mrs. Adamson's room.

Spelling Bee

Each year the school district hosts a spelling bee.  We start in our own class.  The top three winner compete with our grade level.  The top three grade levels compete with the entire school.  The three top school spellers compete in a district wide tournament.  The top three spellers in our class were Kimenany, Logan, and Connor.

Unit Three Reading Projects

We finished our third unit in our Wonder's Series.  The unit theme was "What have you learned about the world that surprises you?"  We learned about weather, natural disasters, Earth's forces, and some different cultures.  Students were able to chose a project dealing with natural disasters or creating a musical instrument.  Everyone did a fantastic job. 

KMVT Field Trip

A big thank you to the staff at KMVT for hosting our class.  We had so much fun touring the building, playing in front of the green screen (they made cute little meteorologists!), having a weather lesson, and watching the News and Noon!  This was a great addition to our third reading unit, where we learned about the weather.
