KMVT fieldtrip

We had so much fun on our fieldtrip to KMVT.  We got the chance to look behind the scenes to see how the news is made.  We learned that it takes an entire team, doing many different jobs, to make the final product.  We were able to explore some career options, that perhaps the kids hadn't thought of before.  The kids were completely engaged and a wonderful audience.  Thank you to the parents who were able to attend with us.

First we got to meet Bradley, who was hard at work, producing the news.  He showed us the program he uses to produce.

This is Haley in the control room.  She has a big job.  She watches a lot of TV and controls lots of buttons and switches, to keep things running smoothly.

Jack, the meteorologist, was a tour guide.  He did a fantastic job.  He showed us all through the studio, and then talked more specifically about his job and weather.

The kids all got the chance to play on the green screen.  That was pretty cool.

They enjoyed seeing themselves on the monitors.

The kids got to watch the crew film the News at Noon.

We even got to be on the very last segment of the production.

Thanks so much to KMVT, and especially Bradley and Jack.  We had a fabulous time!

The First 100 Days of School...

We have been in school for 100 days!!!  Mrs. Brown's class celebrated with some fun activities.  We cleaned up 100 pieces of garbage outside.  We went down the slide 100 times.  We estimated how far we could get across the playground in 100 steps, and then walked the steps to see if we were correct.

We created some very fashionable head gear to show that ten strips of paper, with ten pictures on each strip, makes 100 objects.  MULTIPLICATION...10 groups of 10 makes 100.

And of course we had to see what we would all look like when we are 100.

Lookin' Good!

I sure have enjoyed the first 100 days and I can't wait for the rest!
